and unforgettable moments unfolding before your eyes.
LumaNation brings leading UK drone swarm technology
to your event space, creating sustainable,
spectacular displays.
Whether it’s a festival, wedding, corporate event or any other celebratory moment, we strive not only to entertain, but to inspire.

At LumaNation we provide high quality and personalised continuous client engagement throughout the pre-planning, development and execution of your show. We aim to exceed our customer's expectations.

The swarm drone tech is cool, but our focus is on the creative inputs, artistic effort and detailing that goes into the visual and audio design of each of our shows. Our animators and soundtrack developers are internationally renowned for their work.

Our fleets of drones are designed, assembled and tested in the UK by our technology partner Light Dynamix. Our remote pilots and flight crew are all trained and audited in accordance with our strict safety procedures approved by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Drone shows are respectful to our neighbours and communities, offering a sustainable alternative to pyrotechnics. All our equipment is entirely re-usable with no consumables or waste. Shows are low noise, and do not generate environmentally harmful residues in the air or on the ground.

We are proud to be born on the Isle of Wight, operating both locally and nationally, showcasing the creativity and tech brilliance of our UK suppliers, designers and artists.

Recognising that every show, customer and event venue is special, each quotation is bespoke to your brief. This ensures we focus on customer trust, optimised value and transparency from the outset. We can provide example pricing illustrations for a range of varying scenarios on request.

We can provide our shows as part of a larger organised event, working closely with event managers and production teams to ensure a seamless professional production for your customers.
We work with venue managers and wedding planners to ensure that your special day is stress-free and unforgettable with a show that can present special moments and messages in the night sky.
Impress your clients and colleagues with a show uniquely tailored to what your business does, and help convey your business objectives or celebratory moments in a truly inspirational fashion to make a lasting impression.
Whether you're celebrating an engagement, anniversary, graduation, birthday or retirement, we'll help you create a memorable event that reflects your unique style and personality.
With more event venues and historic sites imposing restrictions and bans on the use of pyrotechnics, drone shows offer a sustainable, sympathetic and more creative alternative form of entertainment for important sensitive sites.
Make a difference in your community by using drone shows to convey important messaging on your charitable cause and fund raising events. We offer discounted pricing for charitable organisations.

We are customer focussed from start to finish, and aim to exceed expectations at every stage. We want to understand your brief and vision at the earliest opportunity to enable us to provide a clear and coherent strategy for your show.

Every show will be developed, edited, tested and soundtracked according to the customer's individual preferences. Once we understand your needs in detail we can accurately and transparently price up the entire cost profile of the project, without any hidden costs or surprises later on.

To generate the highest quality show, we meticulously select, edit and combine pre-existing or new formations into a storyboard. Using this storyboard we can obtain feedback from the customer before the design effort begins. We use experienced design talent to generate the formations, soundtrack and effects and produce the final choreography for the show.

LumaNation has operational authorisation from the UK Civil Aviation Authority to operate unmanned drone swarms. We conduct a multi stage risk assessment for the venue based upon a range of considerations to ensure that the highest safety standards are achieved, and that crew are suitably prepared. We manage all aspects of preparing the site, managing exclusion zones both on land and water and for notifications to other airspace users.

Once the show has been designed and the soundtrack compiled and synchronised, we can present a computer generated reference version of the show for customer sign-off. At LumaNation we commit to undertake all relevant tests in advance of your show to ensure that the quality standards are achieved, and that any risks are identified and mitigated prior to your show.

We assemble our flight crew according to our operational authorisation requirements and show size. Following final weather checks, we will transport all of the equipment needed for the show to the venue and set-up the take off and landing zone and ground control station during day-light hours. For special venues including those where flying is to take place above water bodies or where we form part of a larger series of events, we are likely to need extra time to prepare for the show and engage with event managers.

Our pricing is completely bespoke, meaning you'll only be paying for the display you want to see. We generate quotations once we have a good understanding of what you want from the show, including number of drones, venue location and dimensions, size of audience, show purpose and the amount of special content and customisation required. We can provide illustrative examples of prices for different scenarios taking into account a range of contributing factors, on request.
We operate nationally, and can self-transport all of our equipment and crew. We include all travel costs from our base on the Isle of Wight and other expenses into our quotation.
Part of our preparation is to monitor the weather as the show date approaches. We will always have contingency plans in place including shortened shows, lower altitudes and short postponements if adverse weather is likely to affect the show. If the show needs to be postponed until a different day or even cancelled due to weather, we will notify the customer as early as possible and agree alternative arrangements which may include offering to re-imburse any down payments to the customer as appropriate for the circumstances. Our drones can operate safely within windspeeds up to 20mph, and any light rain that materialises after take off - meaning that safe conditions are usually expected to be achieved, subject to season variations.
Great results can be achieved with only 30 drones, but there are limitations to the level of definition and complexity that can be achieved with this number of lights. The more drones included, the more impressive the show becomes. Our pricing plans take into account the size of the fleet being deployed, and so this question is often one that needs to be decided early on to fit your budget.
Show times typically last between 10 and 14 minutes depending upon the number of drones being used, the flight volume size, the complexity of the flight paths, and the available battery power for each UAV. Research has shown that audience attention is optimal for drone shows between 9 and 11 minutes.
We recommend that you contact us between 2 to 3 months in advance of your show date to ensure we can accommodate your preference in our calendar, and importantly, ensure we have sufficient time to complete our preparatory work for more challenging sites and to provide the time for bespoke design requests. If you need to book closer to your show date, then let us know as soon as possible so that we can investigate how we can help.
We can provide you with a fact sheet and questionnaire for completion which asks for the information we would need to accurately quote for your show i.e. venue details, number of drones, show type, requirement for bespoke design/soundtrack etc. Alternatively, we can collect this information over the phone if you prefer.
Yes, we can. Each of our shows will have a carefully designed soundtrack which we can play through our own sound system for modest sized audiences. We can provide additional equipment as necessary for larger audiences, and augment the show with event lighting and special effects provided by our partners. For larger organised events we co-ordinate with the event production team and utilise other on-site 3rd party owned equipment if this is available.
Absolutely. If you want the ultimate personalisation of your show then we can design both the visuals and soundtrack to suit your ideas and preferences. We pride ourselves on the unbounded creativity of our visual and sound designers to produce bespoke 2D, 2.5D or 3D formations as either static elements or dynamic animations that will inspire and amaze your guests, making it truly unique and memorable.
We are authorised to fly drones up to a maximum of 600ft (183m) above ground level. This gives us a huge stage space to work within. Depending upon the venue characteristics, number of drones, the audience size and any other restrictions, we don't necessarily need to fly at this maximum height to give the best experience to your audience.
We can provide clients with a computer generated version of the show for online viewing in advance to enable you to see your vision come to life, to enable feedback prior to finalisation and to gain sign-off for the show content.
Yes, we are required to identify and manage all of the safety requirements for the show site and formal notifications to other airspace users in advance of your show. Our time to secure all of the necessary permits and permissions is included in our quotation which may include discussions with adjacent landowners and infrastructure operators.
Yes, we have our own public liability insurance cover specifically for UAV swarm flying, a copy of which can be provided on request.
Drone shows are completely safe when operated in accordance with the strict operational standards published by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). To obtain our operational authorisation from the CAA, we have had to demonstrate that our own documented procedures (covering site and venue planning, decision making, audience control, and emergency procedures) demonstrate a pre-requisite level of competency for managing all safety risks specifically for drone shows.
We are required to assess risks to wildlife during our show planning, and identify and deploy mitigation measures as necessary. We consider that any negative impacts on wildlife are lower when compared to traditional pyrotechnical equivalent show types, with less impulsive noise, no emissions to air during operation and no chemical or other waste residues. Our crew is briefed on the risk of any specific wildlife encroachment into the exclusion zones during the show, and the pilot has a number of intervention procedures available to manage the risk to the welfare of wildlife, including early termination of the show.
Our pilots will determine where safety related exclusion zones need to be implemented for take-off, showtime and landing phases, in accordance with the CAA standards. The take-off and landing area (TOAL) needed depends upon the number of drones being used, and the proximity of any nearby property. Ordinarily we would ensure a minimum safe distance of 30m from the TOAL area from your audience and property, and an exclusion or sterile zone of between 65m and 150m from the flying zone during the show, depending upon the altitude of the UAVs and any other measures we deploy.
We do not require any power connection to mains electricity. We provide 2 separate and independent power sources to ensure we have contingency for any failures. We do not normally require any internet connection to be provided. Our systems generate our own private wi-fi networks which are used by the UAVs for accurate positioning and data communications.
We normally film each show from a fixed position, to enable us to review our show content and ensure that we are able to continuously improve our offering. We can make this available to each customer on request. We can work with partners to provide a professionally filmed and edited record of your show that you can share with your guests or audience. We will ask you about this during the early planning stages of your show. We do not provide a livestream option under our current operations.
Please contact us for more information about our shows, our availability or to request a quotation. One of our team members will respond to you as soon as possible.
